Anthropic has officially resolved the performance regression issues that were impacting Claude Code.

Following reports of 'laziness' and reliability concerns, Anthropic investigated and identified three key issues (an incorrect default reasoning effort, a prompt caching bug affecting memory, and an ineffective verbosity prompt) that were causing broad, inconsistent degradation.

All these issues were addressed by version v2.1.116 (released April 20, 2026). Anthropic has confirmed that the fixes restore expected model performance and have also reset usage limits for subscribers who were negatively impacted by the caching bug.

With these fixes implemented, the core technical reasons for recent negative sentiment have been resolved.
